Ionian Games produce modern videogames for retro platforms, particularly the Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48K Home Computer from 1982, and the 128K model from 1986.
Games can be played under emulation of these systems on PC, Linux, Raspbery Pi and other retro-supporting systems. And through our partners we publish a selection of games on audio cassette, for playing on the genuine original hardware.
We are inspired by the azure beauty of the Ionian Sea and the charming Greek islands within it, and are proud to support and promote marine conservation, cleanup, and sea turtle rescue charities.

In 2011, the puzzle game Buzzsaw+ dazzled Spectrum owners as the first game to use MULTICOLOUR sprite graphics - previously a technique solely reserved for technical demos. But the only download at the time was the safe, green-blood, Foxton Locks Mix version. The original Box Deluxe Mix was only available on audio cassette.
But now, that version is available for download, brought to you by Ionian Games.
And both versions of Buzzsaw+ can still be purchased on original audio cassette from our very good friends at Cronosoft.
A demo for the Atari ST based on the all-time classic Psygnosis game for the Amiga, Shadow of the Beast.
This demo shows how the all-important layered parallax forest section could have been achieved on a standard 520STFM at 25fps, with plenty of colours for the sprites and background.
Unfortunately, the official conversion of this game did not do so well.
